How to use the Image Compressor
- Drop your images into the box, click to choose them, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V. You can add up to 20 images.
- Move the Quality slider. Lower quality gives a smaller file. 70% to 80% is a good balance for most photos.
- Optional: type a Max width in pixels to make large photos smaller as well.
- Click Compress Image. Check the new size, then click Download, or Download all (ZIP) for several files.
Features
- Compress JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP images.
- Adjustable quality from 10% to 100%, with the before and after size shown for every file.
- Optional resize by maximum width.
- Up to 20 images at once, with a ZIP download.
- Runs in your browser: no upload, no signup, no watermark.
How to get the smallest file without ruining quality
- Photos: use JPEG or WebP at 70% to 80% quality.
- Screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp text: keep a higher quality, or keep PNG.
- Very large photos (for example 4000 pixels wide): set a Max width of 1600 to 2000 pixels. This often cuts the size by more than half.
- Compress the original file once. Compressing an already compressed file again lowers the quality more.
About the output formats
JPEG is best for photos. WebP is usually 25% to 35% smaller than JPEG at the same quality and works in all modern browsers. PNG is lossless, so the quality slider does not apply to it, and PNG files may not get smaller. For smaller files from a PNG, choose JPEG or WebP. PNG transparency becomes a white background when you choose JPEG.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the image compressor free?
Yes. It is free, has no file limit per day and needs no signup.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs inside your browser, so your pictures never leave your device.
Will the image lose quality?
Compressing a JPEG or WebP always removes a little detail. At 70% to 80% the difference is usually hard to see. You can compare the result with your original before you use it.
What happens if the compressed file is not smaller?
If the result is not smaller than your original, the tool keeps your original file and tells you it was already well compressed.
Does compression remove EXIF data?
Yes. The saved image does not contain camera details or GPS location, which is also good for privacy.
How many images can I compress at once?
Up to 20 images in one go. Download them one by one or as a single ZIP file.
