How to use the Redirect Checker

  1. Type or paste one or more addresses, one on each line (up to 10).
  2. Choose to open them as a desktop browser or a mobile phone.
  3. Click Check Redirects.
  4. Read each chain from step 1 to the final address. Green is OK, orange is a redirect, red is an error.
  5. Fix long chains, temporary redirects and loops. Copy the result or download it as CSV.

Features

  • Shows every step of the chain with its HTTP status code and name.
  • Finds redirect chains, redirect loops, HTTPS to HTTP downgrades and meta refresh redirects.
  • Tells you if a redirect is permanent (301, 308) or temporary (302, 303, 307).
  • Checks up to 10 addresses in one run. Mobile or desktop view.
  • Copy the result or download CSV. Free, no signup.

Which redirect should I use?

  • 301 or 308: the page moved for good. Use this for most SEO changes.
  • 302 or 307: a short, temporary move, for example a sale page.
  • Avoid chains: A to B to C. Send A straight to C.
  • Avoid meta refresh and JavaScript redirects when a server redirect is possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a redirect chain?

It happens when one address redirects to another, which redirects again. Each extra step slows the page and wastes crawl budget.

What is the difference between 301 and 302?

A 301 says the page moved permanently. A 302 says the move is temporary. Search engines treat them differently.

What is a redirect loop?

The address redirects back to itself, directly or through other addresses. Browsers show a “too many redirects” error.

Does the tool follow JavaScript redirects?

No. It follows server redirects (HTTP status codes). It only reports a meta refresh tag if one is on the final page.

Why does the result differ from my browser?

Sites can redirect by country, device or cookie. Try the mobile option. Our server is in one location.

Does it store my addresses?

No.
