How your text is checked
This tool sends your text to the public LanguageTool service (languagetool.org) over a secure connection so it can find mistakes. The text is used only to return the result. Do not paste passwords, private data or confidential documents. If the service cannot be reached, the tool runs a smaller offline check for repeated words, extra spaces, missing capital letters and similar basics.
Use suggestions with care
A grammar checker can be wrong, especially with names, technical terms and creative writing. Read each suggestion before you accept it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the grammar checker free?
Yes. It is free and needs no signup. The checking service has fair-use limits, so if you check very often you may be asked to wait a minute.
Which languages can I check?
Auto-detect works for many languages. You can also pick English (US, UK, Australia, Canada), Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Polish and Russian.
Is my text private?
Your text is sent to the LanguageTool service to be checked. Do not paste sensitive or confidential text.
How much text can I check?
Up to 20,000 characters per check. Split longer documents into parts.
Why did the tool miss a mistake or flag a correct word?
No grammar checker is perfect. Names, slang, technical words and unusual style can confuse it. Use your own judgement.
Does the tool check plagiarism?
No. It checks grammar, spelling, punctuation and style only.
