Does pinging help SEO?

The old “ping” method of sending your site to many search engines is no longer useful. Google stopped its ping service in 2023. What works today is a good sitemap, internal links and IndexNow for the engines that support it. This tool uses those modern methods.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Google support IndexNow?

No. Google does not use IndexNow. To help Google find your pages, submit your XML sitemap in Google Search Console and request indexing for important pages.

What is IndexNow?

IndexNow is an open protocol. You tell one participating search engine about a changed page and it shares the news with the others. It is used by Bing, Yandex, Seznam, Naver and more.

Why do I need a key file?

The key file proves that you own the website. It must be a text file in your main folder and contain only your key.

What does the ping result mean?

HTTP 200 means the page answered normally. A number from 300 to 399 is a redirect. 400 and above is an error. “No reply” means we could not reach the site.

Why is my response time different in other tools?

Response time depends on where the test starts. Our server is in one place, so your own visitors may see faster or slower times.

Will sending a page guarantee it is indexed?

No. IndexNow only tells search engines about the page. They decide if and when to index it.
